Great resource and entertaining, too
I was doing Shakespeare for the first time - Romeo and Juliet - and wanted more exposure to how to understand and interpret the bard's works. This was great. Some of the best Shakespearian actors and director giving detailed descriptions of how to interpret the dialogue and develop the characters. Even if you are not going to be acting Shakespeare, just watching these people work is impressive.
A good primer, and more!
If you know something about Shakespeare, or if you know a lot about Shakespeare, then this is for you. I work as a text director or dramaturg now and again for high school, or college theatres, doing Shakespeare, and these videos are invaluable. I almost always show the video about working the scansion, and then often a few others, depending on the play. All of the videos are awesome. Although, the one on "Irony" can be a little esoteric.
But, come on. How often do you get to watch a master class with Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Ben Kingsley, John Barton, and numerous other AWESOME actors? You'll often find yourself acknowledging why so many of these actors have had such great careers. It's because if you can play Shakespeare, you can play anything, and they ALL do it amazingly well.
